Popular Search Engines for instance, Google, Bing, Yahoo, e.t.c, delivers articles from different blogs to their website users when they search a keyword related to such article. Each of the Search Engines has its own algorithm through which it decides which blog or website comes out when a particular keyword is searched for. The algorithm used by these Search Engines decides which website comes first, second, and e.t.c, during a search, that’s to say, the algorithm decides which blog or site shows on the first or second, e.t.c, page of the searched result. 1. Adding Blog or Site To Search Engine Consoles:
The first step to set up Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is by adding your blog to the Search Engine in question, for instance, you are adding your blog to Google Search Engine, first step is to add your blog to “Google Webmaster Console”. You can access the site from https://google.com/webmasters.
When the page loads, sign up with a Gmail address and add a property (your blog is the property you’re going to add), all you need is to submit your website URL. Then confirm the property you just added. This will tell Google that you actually own the property.
2. Submitting Blog or Site To Sitemap:
After you’ve successfully verify your property, the next thing to do is add a sitemap. To add a sitemap to “Google Webmaster Console”, open the property you have just added from your list of properties, you will be taken to an overview page, from the overview page, find the sitemap tab on the left side of the screen. When the page loads, locate add a new sitemap link and enter “sitemap_index.xml” (excluding “ ”) into the text-area shown. After that, click on submit. This shows that you’ve successfully submitted your blog sitemap and you have made it ready to be searched.
